Mählers radar mounting bracket saves lives
In 2015, the EU introduced requirements for radar units to be installed at the front of certain truck chassis. The radar is a vital part of the Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS), in accordance with Directive EU 347/2012.
In cooperation with truck manufacturers, Mählers has developed a radar-compatible snow plough mounting bracket. The mounting system features an entirely new design compared with earlier models, ensuring that it does not obstruct modern radar technology when the plough is detached. The radar-adapted mounting system is based on the locking mechanism being mounted on the plough rather than on the vehicle, providing the radar with an unobstructed field of view.
With Mählers’ radar mounting bracket, the truck’s adaptive cruise control also functions correctly, contributing to improved safety and enhanced driving comfort.
The radar mounting bracket also allows for improved airflow through the radiator compared with previous mounting systems. Compared with today’s standard mounting bracket, the radar version is approximately 70 millimetres more compact, allowing the plough to sit closer to the truck. This helps to reduce the load on the front axle.
Another advantage of the radar mounting bracket is that the weight of a traditional plough mount can instead be utilised as payload when the ploughs are not in use.
Mählers offers adapter frames to enable older ploughs to be used with the new radar mounting system.
The radar mounting bracket is available for the following truck models*
